Shahjalal University of Science and Technology’s (SUST) election commission on Friday issued a revised timetable for the SUCSU (central students’ union) and hall union polls, announcing that nomination papers will be distributed on 2 December and that the final campus-wide vote will be held on 20 January 2026.
Under the revised schedule, the election commission has already republished the draft voter list on 26 November; students may file objections against the draft until 29 November (3:30pm). The commission will publish the final voter list on 1 December.
Key dates for candidate registration and scrutiny are: 2 December (10:00am–3:30pm) — start of nomination-paper distribution; 3 December (10:00am–3:30pm) — last day to both collect and submit nomination papers; 4 December (3:30pm) — absolute deadline for nomination submission. Verification of nomination papers is scheduled for 6 December, and the preliminary candidate list will be published on 7 December. Candidates will be allowed to withdraw by 9 December (3:30pm); appeals on candidature will be accepted and disposed of until 10 December (4:00pm), with the final candidate list due on 11 December.
The commission said polling — along with result publication — is planned for 20 January; voting will run from 9:00am to 4:00pm that day. The timeline follows the electoral calendar announced earlier this month by Chief Election Commissioner Prof. Dr. Abul Mukit Mohammad Mokaddes.
The re-scheduled timetable aims to ensure a transparent nomination and vetting process after initial schedules were adjusted. The commission has urged students to check the draft and final voter lists carefully, submit objections within the window, and collect and return nomination papers within the specified hours to avoid last-minute disqualifications.
